Join other health professionals in this training to learn more about nicotine addiction and how to integrate brief, evidence-based tobacco treatment interventions into current practice. The Essential Skills Training is open to all health professionals, prevention professionals, and community members who are interested in learning more about the burden of tobacco and strategies for intervention and treatment. Participation in the Treating Tobacco Together: Essential Skills Training is a required component for the Tobacco Treatment Specialist Certification 3-Step Training Pathway.

In this training, participants will learn about tobacco prevalence, products and burden, e-cigarettes and vaping, motivational interviewing, how to integrate brief, evidence-based tobacco treatment interventions into current practice, tobacco treatment medications and relapse prevention and recovery.

Virtual 1 Day Training with Pre-Work (Live via Zoom)
Participate in this virtual training over one day lasting 4 hours, with approximately 4 hours of pre work to be completed prior to the start of the live online session.  Sessions will include both didactive and interactive components, allowing for participants to engage with other attendees in the virtual setting.
Fee: $50 for Maine residents, $75 for non-Maine residents

The MaineHealth Center for Tobacco Independence is nationally accredited as a Tobacco Treatment Specialist Certification Program through the Council of Tobacco Treatment Training Programs (CTTTP). CTI administers the Treating Tobacco Together: Essential Skills Training on behalf of the Maine Center for Disease Control and Prevention (Maine CDC), Maine Department of Health and Human Services.
