Christine E. Sheffer, PhD

Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center

Christine E. Sheffer, PhD is a licensed clinical psychologist and a Professor of Oncology in the Department of Health Behavior at Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center and the Director of Research and Evaluation for Roswell Park Cessation Services. As a clinician, researcher, and educator, her goals include contributing to incremental increases in the efficacy and uptake of high-quality evidence-based treatments for tobacco dependence, enabling individuals to obtain the help they need to achieve and maintain good health.

Dr. Sheffer's research focuses on the examination of bio-behavioral mechanisms that support and sustain addictive behaviors. Her work focuses on improving the efficacy and uptake of empirically-supported treatments for tobacco use, particularly among groups that experience tobacco-related health disparities; investigating neurocognitive processes associated with tobacco dependence and other risky and addictive health behaviors; and investigating effective methods to train health care providers in the treatment of tobacco dependence.

Julia Soulakova

University of Central Florida College of Medicine

Julia Soulakova is a Professor of Medicine at the University of Central Florida College of
Medicine. A statistician by training, her research focuses on racial and ethnic health
disparities, health care for smoking cessation, and statistical methodology with
applications to behavioral medicine and social sciences. She has taught undergraduate-
and graduate-level statistics and biostatistics courses, and mentored more than 50
students and over 10 postdoctoral associates and other scientists. She served as a grant
reviewer on 16 study sections for the DoD, NSF, and NIH. In addition, she is a Standing
Member of the Study Section on Health Care Research Training for the Agency for
Healthcare Research and Quality, U.S. DHHS. She is also an active member of the
American Statistical Association and the Society for Research on Nicotine and Tobacco.

Jennifer Greyber

Duke-UNC Tobacco Treatment Specialist Training Program

Jennifer Greyber is the Senior Program Coordinator for the Duke-UNC Tobacco Treatment Specialist Training Program. She is a grammar nerd and has a background in editing and publishing.

She lives in Durham, NC, and enjoys yoga, cooking, the NC mountains, and spending time with her husband and their 3 sons.

Iyaad Hasan, DNP, MBA, APRN

Iyaad Hasan, DNP, MBA, APRN, is the Chief Operating Officer / Vice President of Operations-The Breathing Association in Columbus, Ohio. From the time Iyaad was a child, he always wanted to be in healthcare and wanted to focus on family practice, so he could impact and change lives. As the first member in his family's lineage to attend college, he earned three degrees from Case Western Reserve University. They include a Bachelor's in Medical Anthropology, a Masters of Science in Nursing (MSN), and a Doctorate of Nursing Practice (DNP). Additionally, Dr. Iyaad earned an MBA from Fitchburg State University in Massachusetts.

Throughout the course of his extensive 20+ year Nursing career, Dr. Iyaad has worked domestically and internationally for the following organizations: United States Public Health Service within the Immigration and US Customs Enforcement Health Corp and Administration for Strategic Preparedness and Response, Cleveland Clinic (Ohio, Florida, and Abu Dhabi), and CVS Minute Clinics, and, currently, The Breathing Association.

Cindy Morris
 

Cindy Morris, PsyD, NCNTT

Behavior Health & Wellness Program University of Colorado School of Medicine

Cindy Morris, PsyD, NCNTT, is a clinical psychologist and the Clinical Director of the
Behavioral Health & Wellness Program at the University of Colorado School of
Medicine, Department of Psychiatry. She has developed and implemented many
training programs for administrators, healthcare professionals, and peer specialists focused on health behavior change for whole health, work & well-being, and tobacco/nicotine treatment.

She is the training director for the Rocky Mountain Tobacco Treatment Specialist
(RMTTS) Program, a CTTTP-accredited training program. Dr. Morris also works with
organizations to create systems that support the overall health of the organization, its
employees, and the people they serve. She is a certified trainer and member of the
Motivational Interviewing Network of Trainers (MINT), an international organization
committed to promoting high-quality Motivational Interviewing practice and training. Dr.
Morris has been awarded the National Certification in Nicotine and Tobacco Treatment
(NCNTT) by NAADAC, the Association for Addictions Professionals.

Jasjit S. Ahluwalia, MD, MPH, MS

Brown University School of Public Health and Center for Alcohol and Addiction Studies Professor, Medicine, Brown University Alpert Medical School Deputy Director CADRE, 

Jas Ahluwalia is a physician and public health scientist at Brown University's schools of public health and medicine and is deputy director of a NIH funded Center of Excellence on substance use. He has been in academic medicine since 1992 and has been a practicing physician, faculty member, department chair, and associate dean in medical schools, and dean of a School of Public Health. His primary research areas are smoking cessation and nicotine addiction in vulnerable populations and smokers who are African American. Additionally, he is doing collaborative research globally in Spain and India. He has conducted clinical trials with every FDA approved smoking cessation medications, and a number trials with e-cigarettes and just recently, nicotine pouches. He has received more than $124 million in grants as a principal and co-investigator, and has published more than 400 manuscripts. He is ranked as the fourth most cited smoking cessation scientist globally. Ahluwalia has served on five scientific organizations Board of Directors, including the Society for Nicotine and Tobacco SRNT, and on the U.S. federal government's Interagency Committee on Smoking and Health chaired by the U.S. Surgeon General. He just joined the Board of Directors of the Council of Tobacco Treatment Programs. Ahluwalia trained at New York University, received a Doctor of Medicine degree and a Master of Public Health degree at Tulane University, a medical residency at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and a clinical epidemiology fellowship at Harvard Medical School, where he received a master's degree in health
policy.

Stephanie Stansell
 

Stephanie M. Stansell, PhD, MPH, NCNTT

Medical University of South Carolina

Stephanie Stansell, PhD, MPH, NCNTT is the Inpatient Tobacco Treatment Specialist at
the Medical University of South Carolina. In addition to her duties as a CTTS, she runs the
MUSC Tobacco Treatment Specialist Training program. She lives in Charleston, SC with
her cat Ollie and Dog Roxy. She has a 23-year-old daughter in college and loves cooking,
thrift store shopping, and is obsessed with Italy and hopes to live there someday.

Michael D. Celestin Jr.

LSU Health New Orleans

Michael D. Celestin, Jr., PhD, is an Assistant Professor and Program Director at the Louisiana State University (LSU) Health New Orleans School of Public Health, specializing in tobacco control, health policy, and behavioral and community health interventions. He is also Assistant Director of the LSU LCMC Health Cancer Center Office for Workforce Excellence. Dr. Celestin holds degrees in Interpersonal/Public Communication (B.A.), Health Promotion (M.A.), Public Policy (Ph.D.), and Clinical Research (M.S.). He has over 20 years of experience at LSU leading statewide cancer prevention/tobacco control activities, integrating behavioral health strategies with clinical practice. As Program Director of the Louisiana Tobacco Control Initiative (TCI), he integrates evidence-based interventions to reduce smoking-related health disparities in health systems and community health centers. His research focuses on health systems change, implementation science, and behavioral change interventions. Dr. Celestin has secured close to $10 million in research funding from the National Institutes of Health, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and the Louisiana Cancer Research Center, to advance smoking cessation through novel and pragmatic approaches. He has over 30 peer-reviewed publications and has presented at numerous local, state, and national scientific conferences. A dedicated educator and mentor, he has guided students from high school to graduate school in population health research. His commitment to teaching earned him the Allen Copping Excellence in Teaching Award (2023). Beyond academia, Dr. Celestin serves on state and national health and tobacco control committees, advocating for equitable tobacco control policies and treatment, and is an Ambassador for the American Cancer Society's Men Wear Pink of New Orleans Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign. With a mission to bridge research and practice, Dr. Celestin continues to lead efforts in cancer prevention, tobacco control, and health equity, improving public health outcomes for all populations.
